Piano Studio of Lola McIntyre

Special Guest in our Studio

Our studio has been selected as one of the leading studios in the greater Indianapolis area by doctoral candidate Bill Budai. Professor Budai is currently teaching at IUPUI, and is gathering research for his doctoral disseration. Mr. Budai is enrolled in the doctoral program at Oklahoma University with a specialty in the teaching of piano. He has asked to visit some of our lessons (most likely on Mondays and Wednesdays) for the next four weeks. He is grateful for the opportunity to observe and asks that students who are observed please sign the waiver form provided. He will video tape four consecutive lessons of a couple students, gather the date, and include it in his dissertation while maintaining anonymity of the students. All tapes and data will be destroyed once the dissertation is written and no names will be used. This provides a fine opportunity for all of us to grow. Welcome Mr. Budai. (Ah...by the way...he and his wife attended our Spring Recital!)

Spring Recital

Everyone played so well at recital! The overall reaction to performing in Ruth Lilly Hall is very positive. There have been many comments about the event being even more special performing in our own special space, playing such great pianos, and also the university providing us with such an attentive staff. Do you think we should as for this space again? Let me know if you feel strongly one way or the other. If you would like to know or send details about the hall to friends or family, there is some info found on the U of I web site: Ruth Lilly Hall in U. of I.'s Cristel DeHaan Fine Arts Center.

Audio Recordings

Audio Recordings are being processed over the next couple weeks. Each family will receive one CD of the program, which is included in your recital fee. You may make copies to give as gifts to friends and family. A big thank you to our sound engineers of Crossroads Recording for their expertise for the 3rd consecutive year. They enjoy recording at the Ruth Lilly Hall. If you remember, one of the engineer's daughter, Riley was very ill as a premature baby. She is growing fast and is very well, now!

Spring Break

Just a reminder there will be no lessons during Spring Break. Lessons resume at normal times beginning Monday, April 12. The last remit for the school year will be due this week.

April Remits

The final remit for the school year is due the week everyone returns from Spring Break ($156). If you are interested in returning for lessons in August for the 2004-2005 school year, you may wish to add the registration/materials fee ($50) to the April remit, or pay the registration fee separately in May. For the remit schedule click on: Remits.

Fall Registration

All students who plan on returning in the fall, will be guarnteed a place in my schedule when I receive the Fall Registration Fee of $50. Many wish to remit this fee separately the first week or two in May, before May Studio Class, which is fine. If I do not receive your Fall Registration Fee by May 15, I free your spot up for other inquiring students.

If you would like to register a sibling, please do this in May. I have received COUNTLESS calls since January.

Recommendations

I will holding auditions in May for limited slots ( 1 or 2 students). If you know anyone who may want to study piano at our studio, feel free to e-mail this web site address, and my e-mail address. I am greatly appreciative of your recommendations to prospective students.

May Studio Class

Our final Final Studio Class of the school year will draw our weekly lessons for the 2003-2004 school year to a close. It is scheduled for Friday May 14, 2004 from 5:00-6:00 pm. Lessons following May 14 will be by appointment, throughout the summer.

Summer Lessons

I will be teaching throughout the summer. Summer session is from May 17 through August 13, 2004. If you would like summer lessons, the fee is $42 per hour. Lessons are by appointment, and times can fluctuate from week to week according to your family schedule. Many like to phone on Sunday evening to schedule a lesson for that week.

Summer Music Camps

All students are strongly urged to consider attending a music camp during the summer. There are a variety of choices, which can meet the needs of every variety of students. Click on: Summer Camps for suggestions. Past students who have attended a piano or arts camp have grown from the experience in many ways. Most students choose to return in subsequent years.

Tuition Change

There will be an increase in tuition this year to $168 per month (Mid-August through Mid- May). I have received over 100 requests from prospective students in the past several months. For more information, consult our Studio Policies page.
